I relate to this article. I've been a youth pastor for about 5 years now & have learned a lot & I am still learning everyday! About 2 years ago after beginning a relationship with an amazing women(who is now my wife!) I had what I call an identity crisis. I used to feel that my life revolved around my ministry. Then I returned to college to get a degree in social work. I believe that this helped keep me from burning out. I made many friends outside my ministry and am able to spend sometime each month working with my social work friends on various projects outside the church. The social work contacts have also helped me expand my ministry to areas that my church wouldn't normally work in. It's been a win/win situation for me.
