One Million Dollar Idea!
I love sitting down with our team to come up with creative and new ideas for our ministry. We dream big, aim high and sometimes a bit too high. Recently on of our leaders suggested a leaders only demolition derby in the church parking lot. What was scary was that the had already done a lot of leg work to find cheap or free cars on craigslist and said it would only cost around $12,000 to pull off and after all we could charge admission.
Not all the ideas that our leaders come up with are expensive, or a liability nightmare and when we sit down to dream up the next season of ministry we will ask this question:

Looking for a Coach or Mentor?

If we had a million dollars to put on a youth event what would you do?
The limitless potential allows our brains to not be constrained to logistics and cost recoupment and the things that come out of our leaders are exceptional and crazy! We have a rule that no idea is wrong, and we just throw out ideas, suggestions and dreams one after another. With a limitless budget and possibilities our minds can go anywhere; and they do, and this is the core of the creative process. It is so important the realists hold back, as the creative dreaming process relies on freedom and safety to say anything!
After 20 minutes of shooting ideas back and fourth we typically start to dial in one or two of them and develop them. If you are reading this thinking that you have wasted your time because your budget is tight or non-existent, keep reading. In the last two years of dreaming up ideas, I cannot think of one that cost more than $3 per students to pull off.

Thinking creatively with no limits will often foster ideas that are free or nearly free and you will be blown away by what your team comes up with you work on collaborative and creative projects together. Coming up with new events, games, skits, activities does not have to rest on your shoulders, involve your team and you will be amazed at what they come up with.
