What’s the scoop on meals?

Registration does not include meals, but there are many affordable restaurants onsite and within a short walking distance…including a food court and Starbucks served at Perks!

Tip: Bring a large refillable water bottle with you. (Water is provided in the classes.) Also bring along your own snacks, such as fruit, peanut butter, energy bars—just stuff them in your backpack and take them wherever you go!

Attendees registered in the full-day pre-conference option will be provided a catered lunch that day.

What do I need to know about the hotel?

SYMC is hosted at the amazing Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Columbus, OH. (click here for complete info)

What does the registration fee include?

Registration includes all conference activities from Friday at noon to Monday at noon, and all hours in between. Choose from more than 200 different breakouts, plus six general sessions with inspiring keynotes and worship, and late-night options offering extended worship, comedy, drama, movies, and more. You’ll also have options to connect and network through organized activities and small groups. Free onsite counseling and professional ministry coaching and consulting are provided, too.

Registration also includes a keepsake conference journal, numerous free resources via seat drops and giveaways in the general sessions, prizes, and more. Typically the value of the free resources alone is worth more than the price of registration.

Registration does not include hotel, meals, or parking. The extra full-day pre-conference options are an additional fee of $69 for a registered attendee or $99 for a day pass for guests who aren’t attending the conference.

How many people are you expecting?

We’re expecting about 3,000 youth workers for SYMC 2014. We cap attendance at this size in order to maintain an intimate atmosphere. Registration for the past three years has sold out early and closed several weeks before the conference. Wait-list status will go into effect when we sell out.

How do I get discounted registration?

Register by October 31st and save $40 off regular rates. You can secure this rate with a $50 non-refundable deposit by that deadline and pay the remainder anytime before January 15th. If you miss the early-bird deadline, be sure to register by January 15th for the Advanced discount of $20 off the regular rates.

Come as a group! Groups of 5 or more from the same church or organization get a $20 per person ADDITIONAL discount! Students and spouses registered with teams count as bodies to achieve the team rate but will not receive the additional $20 discount on the already discounted rates of $299 per person.

Spouse rate — $289: This conference is an incredible experience for youth workers AND spouses. Make it a marriage retreat and ministry training in one weekend. Spouse rates are locked in at $289, regardless of registration deadline or other discount status. The person receiving the spouse rate must be the spouse of another registered attendee.

Free professor pass — College and seminary professors can register students at the $299 rate, and get 1 free pass per every 5 students (for faculty use or student scholarship). Contact Matty for details at 615-349-7111.

Student rate: $299 — Students rates are locked in at $299, regardless of registration deadline or other discount status. To qualify you must be a full-time student (taking 10 credits or more) in college or seminary. Must provide student ID. Contact Matty at 615-349-7111 to register.

Alumni discount: $25 off — Alumni discounts are for those who attended the 2013 conference in Indianapolis. Any alumni bringing a team of non-alumni will automatically get the alumni discount applied to every person in their group (excluding people already receiving discounted student or spouse rates). Alumni who bring a team of 5 or more get the alumni discount plus the team discount, for a savings of $65 per person (prior to Oct. 31st). Can I bring my students?

SYMC isn’t really designed for students; it’s an opportunity for youth workers to step away from their ministry role for a few days and learn, connect, and recharge.

However, a youth leader may purchase a registration at the student rate ($299) for a student leader who’s expressed a genuine interest in pursuing the call to youth ministry.

Are there resources to buy from a bookstore or exhibitors?

Yes. There are hundreds, maybe even thousands, of resources to browse through and buy at the conference bookstore and the numerous ministry partner booths — and almost everything is discounted 20% or more. You won’t find a cavernous exhibit hall to exhaust your time. But you will find a substantial assortment of booths representing quality organizations that are committed to bringing tangible value to attendees by providing free resources and services such as coaching, consulting, and more.

Do you offer child care?

No. We wish we could, but because of liability issues associated with the venue, we’re very sorry we can’t provide child care. Hopefully, this gives parents some precious time away together, and allows extended family and friends the opportunity to take care of your little ones. We understand that some folks need to bring infants, and we simply ask that you respect the atmosphere of learning if they get squalky. We appreciate it if you would please not bring toddlers or children into the classroom.

Who should come to SYMC?

Anyone Involved in Ministry to Youth—
This is a great place for anyone who works in a ministry setting to preteens, teenagers, and young adults. Whether you’re a full-time paid youth minister or a volunteer who leads a small group, this conference will equip and encourage you. Connect with peers who have similar ministry passions and challenges. Small church. Big church. Veteran. Newbie. It doesn’t matter what label you wear. This conference is for you!

Spouses of Youth Workers—
Make it a ministry-and-marriage retreat! If you’re a married youth worker, you know the importance of spending time with your spouse away from the stress, expectations, and demands of ministry. Spouses of any registered youth worker may attend at the deeply discounted spouse rate of $289, and are welcome to participate in any of the conference activities. In addition, special workshops and seminars just for spouses are featured throughout the weekend!

College Students SAVE $$—
This conference is more fun and exciting than any class that has ever been offered in the history of higher education! OK, we might be exaggerating a little. But this IS an incredible learning opportunity packed with the latest youth ministry information, trends, ideas, and more! Surround yourself with thousands of youth workers and learn from their experiences. Plus, you can hang out with nationally recognized youth ministry leaders and speakers in person — and ask questions about all of those “required reading” books they’ve written! How can I volunteer?

SYMC has a wonderful base of committed volunteers who help make this event happen! We prefer to draw in local volunteers who don’t need housing, but we do make exceptions for certain skill sets and areas of service.

Do you offer a 1-day pass option?

Yes—for the Friday Pre-Conference option only. Register for this as a stand-alone option if you can’t attend the entire conference, or bring extra team members and church staff for an affordable, powerful 1-day pre-conference option! (Good for only the Friday pre-conference option, 9:00 am-4:00 pm.)

The cost is $99 (includes lunch). Admission to Friday night’s Opening General Session is not included in the 1-Day pre-conference pass.

Can I get more brochures and/or promo DVD?

Each year, SYMC grows by word of mouth—please let us know if you have the opportunity to distribute promotional materials at a network or denominational event.

How do I register with a deposit and make payments?

The deposit option allows youth workers to lock in the best rates early on without having to pay in full upfront. This is a great “layaway” plan allowing you to pay in manageable increments, or if your funding isn’t available until January. When you’re ready to submit your payment during online or phone registration, you’ll be asked how much you’re putting down. The minimum deposit is $50 per person, but you can plug in any amount above that, including full payment. Full and deposit payments can be made by credit card, or by sending in a registration form and check.

You can log in to your registration information anytime with the registration ID on your confirmation email to submit installments on your own schedule. You’ll get periodic email reminders, but the full amount will be charged to your credit card on January 25th, 2014.

The $50 per person deposit is non-refundable, so if you need to cancel for any reason we suggest you replace another person in your spot. For assistance or questions about an existing balance, contact Matty in customer care at 615-349-7111.
