Don't Fudge on Teamwork
9/10/2008
Objective: To help students know that they have individual strengths, but they NEED one another working together to be even better. Needed: six unusual flavors of fudge cut into small pieces one sample per participant of every flavor. Number fudge flavors so the activity leader can know the flavor name and the corresponding number. Index card with to write numbers & fudge flavor guesses in individual column & team column). Ask students to participate in taste test and write the flavor name of each fudge sample in the individual column without sharing opinions with their friends. Then have them all work together, tasting again if necessary to determine their best guesses on each flavor putting this answer in the team column. Share the correct answers & see which had more correct answers, the individual scores or the team scores. TEAM wins!! Use this opportunity to help them see that as individuals we can accomplish SOME things, but when we work together as a team we can accomplish almost ANYthing.
