Maybe an interesting article

Maybe an interesting article to write would be to survey those of us who function as youth pastors, with almost all of the "things I do" list, but who do not get any salary or personal financial benefits whatsoever. I think there are quite a few of us out here who also have no budget whatsoever for their ministries, not even pizza money for one night. It is cheering to see that some youth workers are able to make this their paid vocation; heartening to see that some workers are being paid at least a little something; it might be revealing and encouraging to survey those of us with no budget (and I mean absolutely nothing.)

Reading this article, in many

Reading this article, in many ways, discourages me. With the average salary per number of students and church size, my salary wouldn't have made the list even if I was one who was surveyed. My salary is 10% of our lead pastor's salary. There is no resentment towards my church whatsoever. I find hope in the fact that Romans 8:28 declares that God will meet all of my needs. Of course reading surveys such as this one doesn't make me jealous, but makes me wish that things weren't the way they were.

While reading this article, I

While reading this article, I feel so blessed to be in the position I am. Our church has declined in Sunday attendance, We are now at 125, down from over 200 a year and a half ago. But the youth ministry has grown. My salary has not been cut and from what I read, is well above the regional average in the northeast where I am ministering. I am humbled by this.
