Getting the Word Out: Loud and Clear
2/18/2008
When it comes to outreach events one of the most important and practical things you can do is get the word out about what your ministry is doing. There are a lot of things that you can do. The sky is the limit when it comes to advertising and marketing, but there are a few regulars that I have found to produce great results.
- Postcards - Send a postcard or letter to every family in the church that has ever visited w/ students. You can also send to a specific zip code.
- Invite Cards - Personal invitation is the #1 way to get the word out. An invite card can be a very powerful tool in the hands of your students. Be sure and include a map and contact info.
- Emails - We use an online program called constant contact to give it a more professional look. Wait to send these out until about 2 days before.
- youtube - Posting a promo video that students can send to their friends (for an example visit youtube.com/eyvideos)
- myspace and facebook - Promote your events where students are. You can create a groups page as well.
- Phone campaign - call the students that have not been around to hear what’s coming up.
- T-shirts - Have a t-shirt designed that your students can wear to school to promote the event.
