SYNOPSIS: Will Turner challenges Davy Jones to play a game of Liar's Dice. Will seeks the key to a mystical box, and he offers his eternal soul as the stakes in the game. Will's father Bill joins in the game, and when he sees that his son will lose, he ups the bid and takes the punishment for his son.

GOSPEL FILTER: In this powerful scene we see a father sacrifice everything he has for his son. The stakes were no less when Jesus sacrificed himself for each of us. Help your teenagers think about that ultimate sacrifice, and find ways to sacrifice for others in their everyday lives.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: Why did Will's father join the game? If it was your son in the game, are you absolutely sure you would have joined in—even knowing what the stakes were? Why or why not? Read aloud John 15: 12-13. Ask: How is Jesus' sacrifice similar to and different from the sacrifice of Will's father? How have you sacrificed yourself for someone else? Explain. Was your sacrifice mostly like or unlike Jesus' sacrifice for us? How did you feel afterward? Would you do it again? Why or why not? What does it mean to sacrifice for others "in the name of Jesus"?
