Seven Keys to Keeping Volunteers

Today I was doing some work and picked up my favorite pen to begin writing out my thoughts. Once I started to write, I noticed that the ink inside the pen was becoming very dry and after writing for just a few moments, it became very difficult to write with this pen. It had run out of ink and now it was useless. Without the ink, all I had was a very light paper weight. Much is the same of those of us in the ministry without our volunteers.
Any successful ministry is usually most successful because of the volunteers that help keep it poppin' and on track. Volunteers make ministries go round. Here are a few quick thoughts to help keep them making things poppin'

- Tell them how much you appreciate them often
- Check on them and see how life is going
- Create times for just the volunteers to get together and hang out; include their families
- Get them a gift at Christmas
- Remember their birthdays
- Let them share in some your "pastor" perks
- Train them
