Thank you for this message. I

Thank you for this message. I know that I am in need of some down time. My problem is that so many look to you when you are in ministry, the youth, parents, church members, pastor. I also have to confess that I have almost lost focus on where our youth ministry is going. I have gotton a lot of unchurched teens lately that come in on our bus and things are unstable. Any suggestions on how to deal with these types of situations? Greatly appreciated guys!!

I have not had a week-long

I have not had a week-long removal/disconnect/vacation since I was in high school, and nothing that was expressly about my spiritual well-being. The real question is how to disconnect when there are so many demands on you in your ministry. 'Sleep when you're dead' isn't just a joke... it is the expectation. How do you convince others to carry the load while you are away... and to be OK with you going away? And, on a side note, being able to afford it financially would be nice as well.

Thank-you so much for these

Thank-you so much for these emails. I feel like sometimes I'm on a island all alone. I need that encouragement today. One of the things I like to do is listen to worship music before my quiet time. Hosanna has been very inspirational of late. Thanks guys for caring about me, and the advice you give. I wish I knew you guys personally.

Great thoughts today of rest.

Great thoughts today of rest. I recently was at Group for the Re-group conference and was hit in the face with this reality and left feeling rested and rejuvenated. Why? Because I was able to disconnect and reconnect with God. We went through several experiential exercises that at first appeared cheesy, but wow they were incredible impactful and I have found myself since returning home looking for creative ways to connect with God. Good stuff!

Over the summer I've started

Over the summer I've started taking a half hour out of my ministry days and my REGULARLY SCHEDULED DAY OFF to read my Message translation Bible and keep a prayer journal. It's not always at the same time everyday, which helps keep me from thinking of it as a chore. I've read through the gospels and am working on the rest of the New Testament. The prayer journal allows me to bring whatever is on my heart and mind to God - work or home related - and to keep track of how God is working in my life. It's great to connect with God daily in a way that has nothing to do with my ministry.
